AS 91155 Biology 2.3
The focus of this standard is to demonstrate understanding of adaptations of animals relating to their methods of reproduction to enable each organism to be "reproductively successful" in their way of life and to therefore survive in its habitat and Niche.
Understanding for the achievement of this standard must be demonstrated in three animal species, each one - from a different taxonomic group.
This standard will be assessed by your:
Understanding of the adaptive features that are related to REPRODUCTION over the three chosen taxanomic groups of animals.
The organisms you choose must provide you with the opportunity to clearly direct your focus on the "diversity" of adaptive features (amongst your 3 animals) in relation to them being successful in the process of REPRODUCTION !
You must be able to identify limitations and advantages involved in each feature within each organism - linking adaptations.
REMEMBER:
You must be able to compare the different adaptive features/strategies - diversity is all about differences ie: the different "special features" that they have to enhance their reproductive success.
You must be able to discuss the advantages/disadvantages and/or limitations in relation to the reproductive success of the 3 groups within their way of life AND discuss if these involve another individual and or their niche.

ADAPTATIONS:
Adaptation involves the range of ways in which organisms have developed strategies to carry out the life processes. An adaptation refers to a feature and its function as it enables an organism to carry out a life process and thus occupy a specific ecological niche. It may include structural, behavioural, or physiological features of an organism. An adaptation provides an advantage for the organism in its specific habitat and ecological niche.

REPRODUCTIVE ADAPTATIVE FEATURES:
Reproduction covers all the tactics and behaviours involved in obtaining a mate, conceiving the next generation and successfully raising them. It includes everything from plants being pollinated, to stags fighting over hinds, to lionesses babysitting their sisters' cubs.
